KDU University College

KDU University College (often abbreviated as KDU) is a private college in Malaysia. Originally, it was established with the campus in Petaling Jaya, but a second was later built in Penang. KDU offers education programmes at the Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters levels. Its extensive fields of study include pre-u (Cambridge A-level, AusMat, UNSW foudation) business management, law, engineering, mass communication, computing, design,nursing, culinary arts, hospitality, economics, finance, marketing, accounting and languages. Students come from over 30 countries around the world including China, Iran, Korea, Japan, Oman, Arab Emirates, Nigeria and Kenya.^[1]

KDU is wholly owned by the Paramount Corporation Berhad, a property development company which has diversified into education through KDU University College (Damansara Jaya campus & Section 13 campus), KDU College Penang, KDU Management Development Centre and Sekolah Sri KDU, a private school.

History

KDU was founded in 1983 on the original campus in Damansara Jaya. Since then, two more campuses have been opened: Section 13 near the Damansara campus and Penang. A fourth campus is to be completed in Glenmarie near Klang.

In 2010, KDU College is upgraded to a University College status by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. The launch on the 4th November was officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin^[2] In January 2011, Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dr. Khoo Kay Kim was appointed the institution's Chancellor.^[3] KDU UC is the first tertiary Institue to have Ambassador and we are proud to have Dato Lee Chong Wei as our Ambassador. On 23 August 2011, KDU University College finally launch its own degree programmes, featuring business, business law, computing, engineering, communication, culinary management and hospitality management.
